Analysis of three adverts relating to our genre of pop (Research)

JLS  - Outta This World - TV Ad


The television advert for their new album relates to the genre of some of the songs in their album.For example in the middle of the video, there are bright coloured electronic lights going across the members' bodies, this relates to the club theme for their song "' the club is alive". The album is very upbeat and funky. It sounds like the sort of music that every teenage girl would want to listen to. They are dressed in a stylish and suitable way, all complimenting each other. This can inspire children and is not like the outfits worn by hiphop artists. They do not have girls featuring in the video who are half naked or show expensive cars in the video and are not wearing a heavy load of jewellery. This helps to appeal to the teenege fanbase. Similarly, in our music video, the costume is very suited to the genre. We wanted to make our  character quite inspiring to younger chidren. This dress sense suits the genre of pop and it makes tthe artists look innocent.



Justin Bieber has one of the biggest female fanbase in the world. He is young, attractive and talented, which is why msot girls tend to have a crush on him. His style is very casual and not over done. Justin Bieber has got the typical look of a pop artist. Our character in our music video has a typical look of a female pop artist too, attractive talented and stylish. The advert contains many bold letters and has his name is written in a larger font. The clothes he is wearing in the advert is very similar to the clothes the male character is wearing in our music video. It symbolises a normal and the 'right' way to dress for a pop artist or the ideal type of boy a female pop artist may go for.


The Wanted are a new pop boyband who have had a UK number one and other smash hits. They also fit into the genre of pop because people mainly associate pop with boybands. They are very modern artists and again look very normal and innocent. They relate to our music video in the way that they too target the younger female audience. They also are not over-rated and sing songs suitable for their audience.
