Evaluation 4-What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Evaluation 3-How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

this project I had to do a lot of research to get some ideas of what kind of video an ancillary products I wanted to create. I used Youtube to look at different videos that related to the genre my music video was on. When planning the different stages we used blogger to post up our planning and the progress of how we were doing. We used it to post up our storyboard and our mood board.
During filming we used brand new state of the art cameras, we learned how to use all its features e.g. Auto/manuel focus and filter etc.
We then used final cut pro to edit the video. I edited it to fit in with our love story so there was slow motion parts that were quite effective in portraying that love feel. Also because some our shots were badly filmed final cut pro helped to cut out certain parts using the image and wire framing tool.
When editing i had to do it carefully with alot of thought to make sure that I was editing to the beat of the actual song.
When creating my ancillary products I used photoshop on a mac. Photoshop allowed us to cut out images background also it allowed us to have a template of the actual digipak.
When creating the digipak I had to ensure the theme reflected my video so I stuck to using the flowery theme. In photoshop there was a shapes tool that allowed me to create shapes. On my advert there's yellow flowers scattered around it and I used the shapes tool on photoshop to create these.
There was a range of flower shapes and I selected the one that I thought suited my product. I was able to choose a colour that also went really well with my overall theme.
The shapes tool aslo allowed me to put the big red star there. I thought this was very handy as it attracts my audience to the advert. Its very bold and stands out well.
Evaluation 1+2
Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Question 2: How effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancillary texts (digipak and advertisement)?

Analysis of adverts related to our genre.
This advert is a pop advert for Miley Cyrus. It made me think about the type of things that need to be written to promote an artist. There is a big picture of the artist which is what i did on my advert. I placed a large picture of my artist to help promote her.
Again this picture shows a large image of the artist like my advert. Also the artist name is written big so that the consumers know who is being promoted. Dates of release are on this advert and it gave me the idea of putting the album release date of my artist on my advert.

Analysis of digipaks related to our genre
This digipak helped withe idea for mine as it is also very natural and summery. I wanted to do something similair and make mine also very natural.
This digipak gave me the idea for my initial colour scheme in mine. I wanted mine to use summery colour like yellows and nudes. However when I tried it out on my actual digipak it didn't really work. This was Sugababes cover for a summery song similar to ours.
This is the cover to the song we chose. It looks very bright and summery which is the theme I was going for on my Digipak. The text on this cover seems very relaxed and modern. The colours are very cool and funky.

Analysis of rough cut stills (Production)
This was filmed indoors, however when it came to editing our teachers noticed that most of our shots were filmed outside and that they looked better. So we took this out of our edit because it did not match the rest of the video shots.
We decided to use this shot in the second verse because like the first verse its an outdoor shot. Also because of the change in costume it adds variety to our video.
This was filmed for our first verse. When we put it in when editing we realised and was told that it was too long so we had to put something in between or cut it short. So instead of using this for the whole first verse we used a close up at the begining of the verse to introduce the artist.

Teacher Feedback from Rough Cut (Production)
In response to Dan's feedback, we agree that we do not have many different shots that all particularly match well. For example, we shot footage inside Katherine's boyfriend's house but we did not use it because all of our other shots are in an outside location. We decided not to shoot regularly at Kensington Gardens because it was quite far from college. By the time we would have got there, we would have wasted an hour of filming time, so we did not think it was necessary. Dan stated the importance of mise en scene in the video, so we ensured that all the footage we use has nothing distracting in the background.

Location Shots (Planning)
The locations we actually did film at were:
- Duncan Terrace Park, Islington
- Pymmes Park
- Kensington Gardens (We did not use a lot of the footage)
- Green screen (We did not use the footage)
- Katherine's boyfriend's House (We did not use the footage)
Animatic Shots Filming On Set
When filming, we found some shots more difficult than others to do. For example, following the characters' feet as they were walking. This was hard because we had to use the camera without the tripod, hand held meant that it had to be very steady. For the first ten shots, we had drawn up a storyboard which did help us, after that we shot Katherine singing the song. We tried to make sure that we have a variety of shots including long shots and close -ups. Because Katherine's boyfriend was in the video, we found it easier to build a romance because Katherine didn't have to act and was being herself. This made the shots of them together more effective because they were really in love.
